various Venice palace tours

Hi all,

I'd like to tour some of the grand palaces along the Grand Canal. I've been in Peggy Guggenheim's before, and this time plan to go into the Doge's Palace (it's true! missed it the last time) but are there other palaces you've toured that I should really try to see?

thanks!

I'm also interested to read some responses here,as I'm going in a two weeks, and saw very little the first time around(although I did get to the Palazzo Ducale!)

The Ca Rezzonico on the Grand Canal is a palazzo that houses a museum of 18th-century Venetian art.

Ca'Rezzonico is a must see. Magnificent palazzo with wonderful views. Make sure you also book for the Secret Itineraries tour of the Doges Palace.

thanks all.

Is it possible to get into Palazzo Barbaro?

yes, I am reading "City of Falling Angels"

interesting note from the book - when the Salute was being worked on, there was a sign out front that said "Beware of falling angels". How often do you get to see that?

If you are interested in Wagner, you can tour his old rooms (where he died) which form part of what is now the casino.
