Has anyone recently purchased Vaporetto tickets in Florence?

Do you happen to know the cost for single trips/w/luggage?

Don't need 24 hour access.

In theory, the fare means transport for yourself and one piece of luggage. But I haven't seen anyone hassled for an extra piece or two of luggage.

Have you climbed the bell Tower in either Venice or Florence?

Campanile (bell tower) in Venice: I've done both the one in piazza San Marco and the one on San Giorgio Maggiore. Both have elevators to the top.

I've also climbed the campanile of the duomo in Florence--no elevator. Most people climb the dome of the duomo (Brunelleschi's dome)

In all cases, I was traveling off-season, so there were no lines. The caanile in piazza San Marco can have long lines.

Is the caanile in San Marco also called the Campanile?

sounded like shorter lines to climb the campanile in Florence rather than the Duomo/and then be able to take pictures of Bruelleschi's dome

The climb at the duomo in Florence is basically through the dome and is a unique experience. Can get a bit claustrophobic though.

In Venice, the campanile at San Giorgio Maggiore has wonderful views back to Venice and Piazza San Marco.

It's called campanile all over italy. Campanile literally means "bell tower" in Italian. In fact the leaning tower of Pisa is a the campanile of the duomo (main cathedral) of Pisa.

I bought a 7-day pass a couple of years ago.

Was there 6 days.

They never once checked for passes. Most of the time, the boats were full, standing-room only.

But even early in the mornings, when there were only a handful of people boarding at the Rialto stop, they didn't check either.
