Vaporetto #? from train station to San Marco

We are arriving at Venice Airport at 10:30 and have a 2:30 train to Florence. Assuming we arrive at the train station by land taxi or bus shuttel by 12:00 noon, we will have almost 2 1/2 hours to wait. How much time does it take the Vaporetto boat #? to travel the Grand Canal from Ferrovia Station to San Marco. We could possibly then immediately return by the reverse boat and catch the 2:20 train. Need boat # and approximate travel time to make this happen. THANKS.

We did it from Mestre and althought do not remember the exact traveling time we (my wife and I) are shure the trip does not take but 30 min. at the most in spite of the numerous stops to drop/p.up passengers in every station alternating from the left and right side of the Gran Canal. ENJOY IT!!
best wishes. Vaporeto departs once is full.(Check FODORS)

Harry,
the vaporetto from the station to San Marco takes about half an hour, stopping at all stops. That's the No.1 vaporetto. The No.82 is more direct and faster. You can buy a vaporetto ticket down by the water then jump on the boat. They run quite often, and are usually busy or packed. The No. 82 tends to be less crowded but there are fewer of these boats.
Kay
