Vaporetto Bathrooms

Does anyone know if bathrooms exist on the gondolas or vaporettos in Venice?

The gondolas?! It is not possible, they are small boats with enough room for about 3 or 4 people! I don't remember seeing a bathroom on the vaporetto, but perhaps the newer boats have installed them on there for the public.

That would be like bathrooms in taxis and on city buses! Has to be a troll.

I think it's a reasonable question at least about vaporettos, some city commuter-type trains have been known to have toilets. Not vaporettos though, as far as I know.

The vaporetto (No12?) from Venice to Murano-Burano I took 4-5 times so far in last 4 years had the toilet. I even used them each time. But those in Venice that on Grand Canal and Giudecca Canal don't.

Did anybody else get a sense of deja vu reading this thread? I tried a search, but couldn't find anything. Or am I thinking about the life jackets that Budman eluded to?

I experienced that feeling of deja vu...well... but haven't the strength to look up and see if Faith or Bambi have posted a trip report...

Yes, there was a long thread on this subject before. Someone asking because the parents of her 40 year old relative didn't want her to go to Venice because she might fall into a canal. I think it was a troll.

But the last time we took a gondola, the seat cushions were flotation devices.

Thank you for all your responses. I'll be traveling with 6 children ages 5 though 13 (not all mine!) Just trying to cover all the bases.

Good reason for the question, but it's still funny. I have visions of my dad on long vacation drives "Now why didn't you have to go at the last stop?"

Thanks for the laugh.

The thought of 6 children on a vaporetto makes me want to run for a life jacket!
