Did you by any chance mean comprenez?

PalenQ, St. Cirq's is THE final word on all things French. Resistance is futile.
Or should I say, résistance? |
Maybe she was a member of the Résistance?

Here is one day's worth of love locks after they replaced 2 panels on the bridge.

One day?? Yikes. I am beginning to think that the posters on this thread hate this fad much more than city officials. They appear to be doing nothing at all to stop it.

There is a REAL simple solution-put in plexiglass panels. End of story and you increase the visibility and the amount self-righteous indignation will migrate to another topic.

They appear to be doing nothing at all to stop it.>
kerouac, a Parisian resident, reported a few days back city officials had removed some of the panels and presumably plotting to do more. Enough already perhaps! |
It will happen sooner or later, but as you can imagine it is all quite complicated. People are no longer attaching these fiendish contraptions just to harmless bridges but to absolutely any place in Paris where they can fit them.
Therefore no rule or regulation will ever bring an end to the problem. Only education about what a foolish activity it is will ever work, but not even that -- it has to become uncool in the collective conscience. We've all seen how well that works about convincing people not to smoke. |
Instead of replacing the panels with a criss-cross mesh, why don't they use a new panel with solid vertical parallel bars ? If the bars are thick enough, and set wide apart enough, they might discourage / limit the type and therefore the number of locks that can be attached.

Hi there,
I lived in Paris few years ago and i know that there is a real problem but yout right they appear to be doing nothing at all to stop it. check out how this can be dangerous for tourists on the boats passing below (sorry it is in french) http://welikeit.fr/41629/pont-des-ar...ion-paris-buzz |
I don't see anything in that article that mentions dangers for tourists on the boats passing below.
|
The panels can only fall inward, not outward. There is no danger for the boats.
