Van Gogh Museum Timed Tickets

Anyone have any experience with how strictly times are enforced?

We are planning to push ourselves to go on the first day we get in (plane lands at 11:15 at Schipol). Thinking about a time of 3:30 as the museum closes at 6 on Sunday. But what if the plane is late or it takes longer than we think to check in at the hotel?

We leave mid-day for Paris the next day, so we really don't have time then either.

Might we better off in this case to queue for tickets in line, or might they be forgiving if we are late?

Anyone know?

You can enter up to thirty minutes after your timed entry. They are very strict.

I would not want to risk standing in a huge queue after a transatlantic flight but you may be lucky I suppose. It really depends on how desperate you are to see the museum. The museum closes at 6pm every day except Friday so you won't have much time there anyway.
Perhaps you should have allowed longer in Amsterdam so you could take your time and enjoy the museum, not feel you have to rush it in a jet lagged haze.

Yes, I know it isn't going to be viewing under the best of conditions. Perhaps I will get a 4PM time. The average time in the museum is said to be 75 minutes. I expect that we will be back in Amsterdam again, but not together. This is likely our last chance to travel as a family as DD will likely be on her own in a couple of years and I want her to give her a teaser to see the sights. Next time SWMBO and I will be travelling in the off season and just wandering around aimlessly.

When you say they are strict, do you mean, as in "go home" or wait until 5:30 and you might get a quick peek?

No, "go home"

Thanks. That is useful information to ponder....
