Valle Verzasca

We are traveling by train around Europe in May and June and for one leg we plan on going from Italy to Interlaken, Switzerland (most likely from Milan).

Would it be difficult to get to Valle Verzasca from the train stations? Is it worth the trip? My brother and I love the outdoors and beautiful lakes/mountains/views/etc. and Valle Verzasca looks beautiful especially with the old towns.

More specifically we would like to see the double arches "Ponte dei salti" in Lavertezzo.

Just wondering if it is a big hassel to get around to those areas.

Thanks!

You've got to get to one of Locarno, Bellinzona or Tenero (closest) railway stations, from where you then get postbuses up the valley - and back to a station.

Like most such places, buses are great for getting to drop-off points for serious walking, or for staying on the whole journey. The practicality of multiple stops, or of synchronising the day (and dealing with bags) during a longer intercity train journey needs some research.

I've only been there on a very overcast autumn day. It was nice, in a Swiss Alp kind of way.

If you like beautiful lakes and mountains, you may approach Locarno by boat from Stresa or Luino. Or travel via Lake Lugano and stop over at Lugano.

From Locarno to Interlaken, you may use the panoramic Centovalli train, the Simplon Post bus and the scenic train Loetschberger.

As neckervd says, getting there is easy. I thought the Valle Verzasca very beautiful. There is a bus stop near the bridge in Laverteezzo.
