Valentine's Weekend in Paris

What is the atmosphere like in Paris for Valentine's holiday? It falls on a Saturday this year, but I'm not sure where to look for events or specials (i.e. dinners,tours,etc.). We'll be in staying in the Champs Elysee area. Any advice for activities appreciated.

the atmosphere is romantic but then again I think its always like that over there at least for me - I LOVE Paris - there is SO much to do it just depends on your interests - you could take a dinner cruise on the seine which we did and was fantastic. Honestly, walking is my favorite thing to do in Paris people watching - you could take in a show - do some dancing there are a lot of places around that area

Thanks for the response. I was more looking for some feedback on the atmosphere around that particular holiday. Is Paris not suppose to be the most romantic city (unofficially) in the world? We've been to Paris before, but never on a holiday. Dinner cruise sounds nice though. Don't know what the weather is like in Paris during the winter time so we might have to limit the amount of walking we do. That's my biggest concern. But then again how bad could it get? It was -2 deg F (w/ wind chill)in Chicago this morning so I'm sure Paris has got to fair way better.

I just got my email newsletter from La Duree (www.laduree.fr) indicating they will be offering a Valentine's Day special dinner for 75 euros pp at their Champs-Elysees restaurant. It's a beautiful restaurant, but I have only had desserts from there (mmmmmm - macaroons!) so I can't comment on the dining experience.

You can see the entire special menu for that day at http://www.laduree.fr/actu_pop_st_valentin2004_us.htm

They recommend calling for reservations (01 40 75 08 75).

Yes - it's a big deal. Classifieds in the papers, red and pink roses everywhere, big window displays, the place goes nuts.

Wherever you decide for dinner, it's not too early to reserve now.

Some good ideas are at:

HTH and have fun finding places to kiss !
