Valentines Day in Paris
 

My husband and I are going to be in Paris on Valentine's Day, does anyone know if that is a big deal for restaurants there. Also any suggestions for a excellent restaurant for the evening- good food and good wine - that we could reserve in advance?

My husband and I have been to several low-key Paris places and have been to Lucas Carton (before he decided to become a more "low key" restaurant) - but our all-time favorite place is Willi's Wine Bar. I think we've been there 3 or 4 times for dinner -not including just stopping in for a glass of wine at the bar. It is located between the Louvre and the Opera House.

I think it is actually owned by some Brits - but it has exceptional food and wine and has been on the Wine Spectator list. I think the menu changes monthly - if not weekly. It is small, but wonderful! I don't know, however, if they take reservations.

They also have great posters which you can buy. Ours is in our dining room and always gets comments from wine-lovers who have been there.

Businesses are always looking for promotion ideas, so Valentine's Day is promoted in France now. It might not be quite as big a deal as in US, but if you plan to dine out in a nice place, you definitely should reserve in advance.

Do you want contemporary, fin de siecle, art deco?

Do you need a view?

Is that 200E with wine?
