Love Valencia - we stayed in the city and travelled around on local buses even to the beach .

We have Alhambra tickets, and reservations at Guadalupe. Very excited! Thank you so much everyone!

remember NOT to get into one of the two lines to pick up your tickets even though it says "internet reservations": Go just beyond the gift shop to the kiosks for the ticketmaster orders.. ( I just saved you gobs of time.. even the security man was putting us all in this line.. and I knew it shouldn't be like that).

Enjoy your time in Granada. . and valencia!

THANK YOU for that advice!

You CAN get your tickets at the window from that line.. if no one is in it.. fine.. but there were about 60 people in it when I went at 9:30. I finally realized correct place for kiosk and convinced SOME of the others to get their tickets from the machines ( which were out of sight).

if you are going to use one of the machines to print your ticket, you MUST have the same credit card that you used to do the booking - and this seems to apply throughout Spain when you use one of those machines.

Makes sense really but easy to forget.

Other users have already told you a lot about hotels. I'll give you some more advice.
Valencia has a good transport network... but it depends on where you want to go. If you are around the center (cathedral, plaza de la reina), there's no tramway, the closest metro station is about 15 minutes walking away. With the high temperatures we have here in September, walking quickly gets unbearable. I'd suggest you hiring a bicycle or a segway to visit the city around.

A bicycle ride to Albufera is definitely something you should consider. It's amazing!

Enjoy your time in lovely Valencia.

annhig - haven't experienced this but do you know what would happen if the expiration date had changed between ordering and picking up tix?

annhig Jul 31st, 2017 04:51 AM

Elizabeth - I have no idea! it must happen quite a lot. presumably it's the long number on the front that's the important thing that the machine reads so that ought to be ok, but I would always take the old card and the new one.

No metro in the old section of town but very, very efficient air-conditioned buses solve that problem and go all over the city and out to outskirts on same ticket. EMT website will help

We got a bus from the main square to the beach; it was quite busy but we got a seat eventually. It was fun seeing different parts of the town from the bus [you don't get that on the metro, obviously,] and seeing the different people who use the bus; I was particularly impressed by a young woman who was breastfeeding her baby whilst sitting down and managed to keep the baby latched on as she stood up and got off the bus. Not sure I could have managed that.
