Valencia question
In Valencia, are there one or two ceramics museums? I am getting confused and would like to see one or both.
if you can advise as to name(s) and location(s), thank you! |
There își one that I know of:
MUSEO NACIONAL DE CERAMICA. It is housed in the former Palace of the Marques de Dos Aguas, so maybe you saw it listed under that name, or the name of Gonzales Marti. It is in the center of Valencia, a 15 minute walk from the Mercado Central. There are several floors; I loved the modern pieces on the ground floor. The facade is glorious! We were there last month. Another place to include is the HORTENSIA HERRERA MUSEUM, which is new and is not included in printed guidebooks yet. https://www.visitvalencia.com/en/wha...s-aguas-palace |
There is also
Museu De Ceràmica De ManisesIt's a little way to the west of the centre https://museumanises.es/ |
Thank you both, EKScrunchy, your TR was the first mention of HH I had seen!

You're welcome! Don't miss the HH museum and try to buy tix in advance. They let in a limited amount of people per day.
And there is a nice little clothing shop next door, to the left as you face the museum, across the street from the ticket office. Clothes made in Spain. |
I have secured my tickets and will look for the clothing store. Any places nearby to eat dinner? Thanks!

You could walk to Llisa Negra from there, easily, but that was the most expensive place we ate on the entire trip: about 115 euro for two people but with a pre-ordered fideua.
It's a gorgeous place with lovely service, though. Do not pay attention to the TA reviews---many complainers had the tasting menu which I would not recommend. I thought it was lovely--stick to a la carte and get two-3 dishes including the ensaladilla (don't even ask--just order it). They did tell me that they would make rice for one person b ut I'm not sure if that is true since we were two people. https://www.llisanegra.com/en/carte-menu/carte What about taking a taxi someplace not too far away? Taxis are pretty inexpensive. You might want to see the area of El Cabanyal where there are a couple of excellent restaurants.... Will it be you alone? (I ask because it's almost impossible to find a place that will cook rice dishes for one person). But there is so much else to eat apart from rices that you can be very happy avoiding those. |
Sadly, a cautious approach to a health condition meant I had to miss/postpone our trip. But our friend is there and loved the HH museum. Cosmo Hotel bumped her to the Helen Berger.
