vaccinations?
 

Does anyone know if you need any vaccinations to travel to France? What papers do I need to have with me, besides passport and other photo ID?

From where? Depends if you might be bringing in any dangerous diseases.<BR><BR>Papers: Paris Match, Le Monde, Le Figaro.<BR><BR>I know, this is not a serious answer.

any traveler would be ell off to get the hepatitis A series of 2 shots. the disease is food/water born and occurs worldwide. for such a simple proceedure it gives excellent protection. mandatory-no but highly advisable

I agree with Peter. An ounce of prevention is worth the pound of cure. A lot of truth in that old saying. People told me last year I didn't need to get shots going to China. But, I did not listen and went ahead and got them. China I am sure is a bit different from Paris. I am sure Paris is more modernized. But,if you want to be sure.........get them. It's better to be safe than sorry. Another old saying with a lot of truth. As for papers, I wouldn't think you would need anything else. You can search the web and check embassy sites for info. Always leave a copy of your passport at home and also make a copy to leave in your room or give it to a travel companion to keep for you. Just common sense. Have a wonderful time Ellen. According to the World Health Organisation, no international traveller requires any shots for France, and in fact it ranks France as having the best health care record in the world. So you'll probably be safer there than at home.

Yup, my position is “go see your doctor.” The US is going to start pushing the idea of regular vaccinations for adults. It’s happened for year with kids in the US but adults have been left by the wayside. Things to discuss with your doctor include, but are not limited to:<BR><BR>Hepatitis A as mentioned above.<BR><BR>Hepatitis B especially if at risk due to intravenous drug use or unsafe sex.<BR><BR>Tetanus (every ten years or after a deep puncture wound)<BR><BR>Chicken pox if you’ve never had them (a man I know had a miserable time with chicken pox this past November.)<BR><BR>Annual pneumonia if you are above a particular age or have a compromised immune system.<BR><BR>Annual flu shot, especially if above a particular age or have a compromised immune system.<BR><BR>Not a doctor, don’t want to be one, in fact don’t even want to play one on TV. :-) But why risk something stupid like Hepatitis A even at home?<BR>
