Vacation in SICILY. Info Requested
 

Planning a trip to Sicily and need info on Top Notch Accommodations throughout the island. Also general info on places to visit of historical interest ie ruins, etc. as well as scenic spots. Any recommendations or comments would be appreciated. With Thanks.

When are you going?

Visited all of Sicily a few years ago; can recommend Erice as a nice place to stay one or two nights; Selinunte; Valley of the Temples in Agrigento; Siracusa/Ortygia; and Taormina. Also, the museum in Palermo to see artrifacts taken from the old sites. The Fodors Italy guide will give you an excellent overview. We flew in on Alitalia from Rome to Palermo, rented a car at Palermo airport, and took off, travelling the island CCW. Weather in February was terrifc, with the furit trees coming into blossom. The vegetables are wonderful, and some excellent white wines are made.
