Vacation in Paris apartment #258
 

Please look at it and give me your opinions.
I am planning a trip for one week in March/April. I have been to Paris before. I always stayed in the hotel. This will be a relaxing trip. We are not going to rush around. I need a place that we won't be bothered by the cleaning service. I need a separate area from the bedroom. I need free wifi and free phone calls to America. We are 60+ couple.

We stayed here in March of 2011. It had just finished work being done and we were the first renters. Other than the security lock breaking one night and getting locked out, we liked the location, generally. It was very quiet, with the front room looking out over a courtyard, and the bedroom overlooking a garden area. It was convenient to the metro, was close to Rue Cler and the eiffel tower.

We preferred our first visit where we stayed in the 2nd Arr. (backed up to the 1st Arr.) in Montorgueil. We have enjoyed our trips to Paris and will likely use VIP again on our next trip.

Sorry, as for 258, I don't like the area as well for staying. There are many hilly areas and steps in the area where this apt. is located, but the inside portion seems nice.

Thank you for the links. I don't care for it. It's not my favorite location and I like more charm in my apartments. But it looks clean and well appointed.

If you've been there, you must know where this is located and how long it will take you to get other places. That location is okay for Montmartre, though.

I don't like it at all, but that's just personal taste, you must like it or you wouldn't consider it. I think it's really ugly, I can't stand the decor and would never want to live in that for a week. The table, chairs, etc are cheap, and the sofa is obviously not comfortable. The bathroom is okay, though, and I guess the kitchen.

This is a ground floor apt on a pedestrian street, it even says there will be lots of people walking by in the street. That's enticing, having people walking by all the time right in front of your window. I wouldn't do it for security reasons, either, it would make me too nervous to have windows looking right onto a street like that, on the ground floor, aside from the people just outside. Well, I wouldn't like either. But if you don't care about this, it is possible the bedroom doesn't overlook that street, it isn't clear as there is only one photo. It may not have any windows.

The size is okay for one person but very small for a couple. The problem is you said you want a relaxing place, and this doesn't seem that way to me.

But you can obviously see all those things yourself. YOu are limiting yourself if you only want apts with free phone calls to the USA, etc., though. I've seen and rented places with free local calls but not to the US. I like having the ability to call locally for various reasons (taxi, emergency) but don't care about calling the US. Of course you could get your own phone if that was really important to you and you planned to be calling the US a lot for some reason, and that would open up your options. YOu may not want to bother with that, though.

If you want to rent through vacation in paris here is the link to an apartment we stayed in. It was very comfortable and the location can't be beat diagonally across from Place Marche Ste. Catherine in the 4th. Comfortable, well-kept, and quiet. Oh, and the owner is very charming and helpful (Bonjour, Louis!). I'll stay here again, and I don't say that about many of the apartments that I've rented.

I assume your budget is approximately $160 per night (120 euro) based upon your original selection. If it is as high as $205 (157 euros) as the vrbo apartment, I'd suggest there are plenty of places to look at, as that budget brings you many more options.

We might be able to make some more specific recommendations if you could confirm a budget amount?

VIP #08 was booked. I am looking at #77 and have a confirmation. I have one week to make a deposit. Will look some more. Thank you.

For about the same price, I like this one more than 77. We liked the more central location, and found the Rue Montorgueil Market more appealing than Rue Cler.

Yes, I agree. However, it was booked during our visit.
