Vacation in Great Britain

I'am planning a trip to Great Britain in May of 1998. I have decided on taking a tour of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. I'am looking at two tour companies Globus and Brendan and their 15 day tour of the above places. I would like the input from anyone who has taken tours with these companies and whether you were pleased with them, the hotels and the sites that were included in the tour. Thank you. Robbie

there was quite a discussion, with 10 comments, a while back on the subject of which tour company to take. Have sent it to the top for you to read. Please enjoy.

Dear Robbie, I don't have much of an opinion regarding
tour companies, I have taken 4 and was not very happy
with any of them, but it could just be a personal thing.
I like the freedom to be spontaneous and meet the locals
which does not really fit it with a tour. I do think that
15 days is not very much time to cover all that territory.
Try to take more time if at all possible. Good luck! Karen

I have traveled to Ireland, N.Ireland, Scotland, and England and I can tell you that you will have a rushed trip. I traveled using buses and trains for the most part and I covered a lot of territory, especially in Ireland and N.Ireland because they have a great transit system. If you are interested in more info, because I have a lot of books and different schedules please write: [email protected]

One of the joys of our trips is the planning. We are going to the UK next week for 23 days after a year of planning and vetting our itinerary. My advise is to plan what you want to see, buy a Britrail pass or even rent a car and do it yourself. The problem with the tour companies, is that you eat where they get the best price and you have very little time to wander off and see or do what you want.

We took the Globus Great Britain in Depth tour several years ago and it was well done, good hotels and very comprehensive. Naturally, within the tour format everything structured and coordinated with minimal free time as I recall.
