V&A Chanel tickets
We have tickets for the V&A Chanel exhibit in October. Sadly, my hip has loudly proclaimed that it cannot wait to be replaced until after our fall trip, but must happen ASAP. So, rescheduling trip.
i understand that the tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. As it happens we have friends who will be in London at that time. Does anyone know if there is an issue with giving them the tickets? Is there a requirement to show identification? |
What a shame - hope your surgery goes well.
I'm not 100% sure since I'm a member and never have to show ID - just my membership card which doesn't have a photo to confirm the card actually belongs to me. My 'guess' is they will be fine. Especially if you print the eTickets and not use phones. When ever I use eTickets in London I just fold them so the QR code shows. I can only remember one event where I had to show an ID with the QR code and that was a special event at Buckingham Palace. For some events (mostly theatre tix) one is asked for the same credit card used to book. I don't think they do that at the V&A -- that would slow up the queue a LOT. (again, being a member I don't have to pay for tix so no credit card involved) |
I've never been asked to show an ID at the V&A or other museums. Just the QR code. They say 'not exchangeable' because they don't want people to sell them. Giving them to a friend to use is fine.

generally the UK is not into the whole idea of needing to carry ID cards or cards with your face on. This is an issue of ongoing debate and so you are unlikely to be asked to show such things as a citizen. As a visitor to the country you need to carry a passport at all times (well "need" is probably the wrong word), but staff are very unlikely to ask to see them at a museum.
There are some notable exceptions to this like cards that show what age you are, car driving licences etc, but again not many older (>25) Brits actually carry these things, not would be expected to do so. |
Thank you so much for the responses! We just don’t want the tickets to such a great exhibit to go to waste. Will give them to our friends.
Now I’m on to rebooking our trip for mid April. Gives me something fun to work on while waiting for surgery and during recovery! |
