Using US debit card at Greece ATMs?

Hi-

I'm visiting Athens, Mykenos, and Santorini in a few weeks. Can someone tell me if ATMs are readily available at these locations and if they generally accept US debit cards.

Thanks!

Mike:

You should have no problem using a debit card. My wife and I went to Athens, Crete and Santorini two years ago and were able to use it there. The ATM in Santorini was in the middle of Fira, it was pretty cool to put in our debit card and get back Greek currency.

Used mine in the Thessaloniki train station with no problem. It *was* kicky to see drachma coming out:)
Sailed down the coast of Greece and hit several little out of the way ports of call, much smaller than the ones you mentioned. Card worked every time!

Just make sure your PIN number is four digits -- otherwise it may not work in Europe.

Also, memorize your PIN by numbers, not letters. Many keypads in Europe don't have letters on them.
