Slynkyy: thanks for sharing your unfortunate experiences trying to order train tickets. Scary, huh? I'm actually glad I had the experience of buying train tickets on the Italian web-site, though. It was like reaching a goal...Ira knows! On to other things now... That Rick Steve's web-site has some cool travel stuff!

>Does anyone know why there are 2 prices when you receive your confirmation letter? One price is my total: 315,05 euros. But then it also says "Il Suo tetto massimo di spesa mensile e di Euro 516,46."<

The last sentence means that you cannot spend mroe than 516 euro a month on the trenitalia website.
I have no idea why that arbitrary number (I have a feeling it used to be 1,000,000 lira).

I have a couple of questions about trenitalia website. I select a ES* train from Venice to Florence and get a price, but is that the ticket and reservation price or just ticket price? Do I make the reservation when in Italy, what is the cost, and can I get the reservation from any train station or do I need to do it at Venice station? Does anyone know about IC train where I want to make a reservation and how much does it cost?
