Using Expedia to book hotel room

In a related thread, I am agonizing over deciding on a hotel for my upcoming trip in December. As I was comparing prices of the hotels under consideration, I decided to look on Expedia, Orbitz and Venere to compare prices. Most of the hotels I am looking at are not on any of these sites- with the exception being Hotel Terrass in Montmarte. Price on Hotel's site is E248 for double room. Price on Expedia is $197.

Question: Anyone know of any other sites to snag a good deal for the smaller, more boutique hotels in Paris that are favored by Fodorites?

I recommend that you ask the Terrass to match the lower rate you found elsewhere. Only once have I had a hotel refuse to do that. That way you are booking directly with the hotel, and don't have to pay the entire amount up front.

Thanks, Elaine, I think I'll try that and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Be advised that Expedia's prices do not include taxes, etc. Just make sure you know what you are comparing.
