Using Day room at Hilton Heathrow. Have questions.

I am arriving LHR from JFK on AA 104, arriving 740am, Terminal 3. I connect over 10 hours later with BA 55 to JNB at 550pm in Terminal 1. I am OW Sapphire and have a paper ticket. I have booked a day room at the Hilton in T4. My questions are:

1) Since I will have an AA boarding pass for the BA flight (with coupon attached), should I trade this BP for a BA boarding pass before leaving for the Hilton? Or after arriving at Terminal 1 in the afternoon?

2) If so, where would I do this?

3) I'm assuming that the long length of the connection will still allow my checked bags to go right through, no need to collect in LHR.

4) I've been told to take the Heathrow Express (free between terminals) to terminal 4 and up to the Hilton walkway. Correct? What to look for as far as signage.

5) How long should I allow from checkout at the Hilton to BA First Lounge in Terminal 1?

Any other information anyone might deem useful for this connection/rest stop.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you have to pick up your bags, go through customs, and then re-check your bags at LHR

1. Since you're going landside to go to the hotel, I'd just wait until you go to T1 later in the day.

2. At T1 checkin. If you're using the First lounge I assume you're traveling in FC on the BA flight; the line ought to be nice and short at T1.

3. Should be okay. Double-check with AA at JFK when they're tagged.

4. IIRC there are signs pointing toward the hilton once you're out of the HEX tunnel. It's not a short walk from T4.

5. Hard to say; I'd probably give it an hour.
