USE OF C BACKSLASH IN SPAIN
I have seen listings for restaurnts etc with a C/. I am planning a trip to Seville and Southern Spain and have seen listings like:
Jalea Real Vegitarian. C/Sor Angela de la Cruz 37.

Anyone know? Thanks.

That's not a backslash, this / is a backslash.

whoops now you got me doing it. I meant \

C=Calle=Street
|
Right. A slash. I asked two spanish students and they didn't know. Thanks.

C/ is shorthand for Calle (de), translated as "street". You will find many Spanish addresses written with abbreviations like this. Also, the street number comes last. Guidebooks should have a table of these abbreviations -- there are many of them.

Hi Harvey,
Eric and Daniel are right. C/ is the short form for Calle (Street)so you'll see it in every guide or letter before the name of the street. The same thing goes with: Pza.= Plaza (Square) or Avd.=Avenida (Avenue)
