Use of ATM machines in Italy

I don't see any text for this question, but I will respond that there are plentiful ATMs in Florence, Venice, and I assume the other large cities and towns.
I will add that while in Italy in May I had no problems using the ATM machines. I used my Nations Bank debit card. I believe as long as your pass code is numeric, there should be no problems.
Had no problem using ATM machines last summer in Siena, Florence, Santa Margherita. In fact, did not use a single traveller's check.

Glad to hear that ATM's are plentiful, but another question, if I may - are ATM's Italy just in Italian or do you have the option of another language? (for example, I live in Texas, USA & most ATM's in the state are in both English & Spanish).
The ATMs I used in Italy (Rome, near Lake Como) had instructions both in English and Italian.
