Use "Navigo Decouverte" as "Navigo Easy"

My husband and I will be in Paris from a Friday to Tuesday. I already have a "Navigo Decouverte" card from a trip I took last year. Since the "ND" card is valid Monday to Sunday, it does not make sense for me to use the ND card. Can I "load" Navigo Easy onto my ND card? OR do I need to buy a new Navigo Easy specific card?

Also, with the Navigo Easy, I realize you can load 10 carnets on it. Does EACH trip on Metro OR Bus separately deduct, or do you have a certain amount of time to transfer between modes of transportation?

Lastly, is there any other suggestion anyone has to make using the Metro easy for a Friday - Tuesday trip?!

Thanks

navigo decouverte and easy are just the card. No you can't load one card onto another card. A carnet is a group of 10 t+ tickets, a carnet is not a ticket. You cannot transfer between metro and bus with a t+ ticket, only metro to RER and vice versa if you don't leave the system. I don't think you can even transfer from one bus to another. You can xfer between bus and tram within 90 min. I don't know what you mean by last question.

I understand a Carnet is a group of 10 tickets. It is my understanding you can load a Carnet of 10 tickets onto a Navigo Easy card, correct?

With having had the Navigo Decouverte card - travel on either metro or bus was covered. There were times when the route I took required both Bus and Metro. Are you saying that you cannot use a single Carnet to take the Metro and transfer to a bus if your route requires that?

My last question was just asking if you had advice to make getting around Paris easy. [Frankly, if I were going to be there from Monday-Friday, I would just refill my ND card. However, it sounds like I will have to buy a Navigo Easy card this time around. [correct]

Thanks,

You are correct that the ND is of limited value with your schedule as it would be valid only until Sunday, so you'd be paying for a week pass only useful 2 or 3 days. You cannot load individual tickets onto your ND, it is not a stored value card like the Navigo Easy.

As for metro to bus transfers, a new ticket is required for the transfer whether you are using a NE or even a paper ticket, it's just a quirk of the system. If you remain on the Metro system you do have 90 minutes of validity for each ticket, but transferring to the bus requires a new ticket. (With the ND, of course, you would have unlimited transfers but as noted only for a couple days of your visit)

Unless you expect to be a heavy public transport user, you may be best off just using a NE loaded with a carnet, supplemented as needed. If you load a carnet you do get the discounted price for 10 tickets, but you can also just add a few tickets as needed.

Seamus, thank you for your informative reply.

I will buy and use the NE card with 10 carnet loaded. (If I need to use both Metro and Bus that would be 2 uses.)

thanks again,

Leslie
