USA PERMANENT RESIDENT HOLDER RE-ENTRY TO USA

Hello...My husband is in the army and we just got our oder for Germny and we are leaving in June. My concern is that I am not a US citizen yet. I am a permanent resident. What shall I do? Do I have to get a Re-entry permit to go back to US? My permanent resident card expires April 2008 and i have told that i can extend it 90 days before the expiration only. PLEASE ADVISE ME.....thanks

this is of major importance.

you need to call your immigration officer and do whatever HE tells you, not travel buddies on internet.

Do you have a military spousal ID card, in other words a depend. wife?
Registered in DEERS, etc.?

Is there anyone on the base/post where your husband is currently assigned who might be able to assist you in this?

lin, why does it have to be a "HE"? Sorry, couldn't help it :) Good advice.

You will need to consult either an immigration lawyer or some one from DoD who should be able to assist family members of those posted overseas or duty.

My understanding is, technically speaking you need to get re-entry permit that will be valid for 12 months. Longer than that, you'll re-apply as a returning resident.

I believe accompanying a US citizen spouse in service abroad should qualify for "protracted stay caused by reasons beyond your control".
