US soldier in Geneva

How are US soldiers treated when traveling in Switzerland,France and Germany?

Well - how would they know you're soldiers unless you're in uniform (which seems excessive assuming you're on vacation).

If you're there on some official duty the question is moot.

In general europeans are able to differentiate between americans and the policies of our government - and don;t hold us responsible for the latter.

But, as with all foreign travel, talking politics with people you don't know is not a good idea.

Don't expect them to thank you for killing terrorists.

Your concerns are groundless IMO and we both know that everyone who has been killed as a result of the war was not a terrorist.

Even if you travel in uniform I would be very surprised if anyone treated you poorly.

I guess that if you don't bring your gun and wear your helmet they won't know that you are a soldier.

Hi tanksgtrich,

I'm a retired soldier and travel often to Switzerland. I spent time last year in Paris and in Germany.

No problem!! You'll have a blast!
