It's getting pretty specific now;

"In addition, thousands of U.S. troops based in Germany were placed under a curfew Friday night and were ordered not to wear their uniforms off base, according to an order obtained by CNN."

That doesn't sound like random chatter for something at some unknown, distant, point in the future

Spooooky, why not put them into an airplane and dispatch them to Atlanta, GA now. Noone will notice or even care.
I always knew you can identify US soldies by their noses, not wearing uniforms won't help. LOL

There was a high terrorist alert in Germany when we went in May 2007 on the State Dept's web site also. They would not say specifics but we figured out it was for the trains; which we were not using at that time. You are still alert though and it did cross our minds when we got on the subway and the plane in Munich for our flight back.

But you still go....

We are leaving for London in less than two weeks. Today I have gotten three emails from friends, telling me to "be careful." Friends who don't pay attention to the news at all until something like this comes around.

You know what, I'm going to make sure my beneficiaries are updated and that I know who will take care of our cats in case we don't come home. Other than that, I'm not going to worry about it.

New York Times today says: "Vagueness of Alert leaves travelers frustrated"
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/04/wo..._r=1&ref=world

Highlights how incompetent the State Department are, total mumbo jumbo and scaring a lot of people for nothing.

Stay home if you feel worried.
