Urgent Vignettes to austria
Urgent! I'm in Germany. I am going to buy the vignettes to enter Austria. I don't know where do we put them exactly. I have been told that there is a penalty to pay if the vignettes are not put in the right place. Any ideas about where to put exactly the stickers?

You stick them on lower corner of the driver's side windshield (couldn't you ask this when you buy the vignettes?)
|
You put it on the inside of your windshield so it is visible to authorities if they see your car and want to view it. I'd put it near the top corner on the driver's side.

What Christina said: top, driver's side corner of windshield.

From insinde the front windshield at
the TOP LEFT corner or the TOP CENTER (near the inside rearview mirror) but NEVER where the windshield is tinted. Don't forget to get the first day of validity punched / cut out when you buy the vignette. |
The vignette has instructions and pictures of where to put it on your windshield printed on the back of the vignette. I feel the top left of the windshield is best as it is less in the way.

In our experience when purchasing (annual) vignettes to visit the neighbors (CZ, SK, and H), the clerk selling them does not always speak English. Usually each country's sticker has a little placement diagram. (The Slovenian short-term vignette is to be placed in the lower corner of the driver's windscreen.)
ASFiNAG, the Austrian autobahn managers, require that the sticker be place on the top corner of the driver's (left-hand drive) windscreen. http://www.asfinag.at/toll/toll-sticker/ |
