URGENT - mid range accomm Normandy or Brittany
 

Hi,
Two daughters wish to spend time with 80 year old Mum. One daughter lives overseas. We could do a coach trip in England - home country - but all would be interested in short trip to France. Need to decide soon - accommodation is the problem, and it will be in August. aaagghh.

Haven't done a thorough search here - pressed for time; have done an internet trawl. Just wondered if anyone had a tip for a little known website, or a personal recommendation for accomm in this area. Hotel, B&B, self catering - all are OK - just need at least one room with en-suite, and a reasonable price (under $100 a night).

My wife and I spent some time in Bayeux at the Hotel D'Argouges which is right in the center of town (but set back from street) and close to cathedral, the tapistry, and nice stores and restaurants. Type name into Goodgle and you should get their website. I arranged our reservation via email last October and we were well pleased with hotel, location , price and room with breakfast.

Someone else said it is a good reasonable b & b. I have ideas for other places in Normandy as well if you are interested.
In Brittany, we will be in Le Logis de Jerzual in Dinan. It has a recommendation from Karen Brown.

In Normandy we especially liked La Chaîne d'Or, in Les Andelys, and L'Ecrin, in Honfleur. Both are very comfortable.

We stayed here in autumn (Fall) about 4 years ago and had a great time.

Very good value for such an impressive looking chateau. Location is just out of the main tourist areas so a car is probably essential

Another thumbs up for Hotel d'Argouges in Bayeux but be advised that it does not have an elevator; don't know how that would be for Mum.

In Dinan, the Hotel Arvor would meet your requirements. The suggestions for Bayeux are good, but you might also consider the Hotel Churchill.

In Bayeux there is a very modest, squeaky clean hotel, the Hotel Bayeux. About 5 minutes from the cathedral and 5 minutes from the tapestry. Has a secure car park next to the front door. The rooms are quite large, all on one floor, breakfast room on the second floor. For the price of 45E, a couple of years ago.
