Upscale Mykonos hotel recommendation
Any suggestions for nicer accommodations on Mykonos? This is our first trip and we're celebrating our 20th anniversary. We're not interested in the party scene so we don't necessarily need to be in Mykonos town although, I'm not opposed to it either. Also, we're open to renting a car if needed. This would be for 2 nights in June. I've looked at Cavo Tagoo which the guidebooks seem to love but, people on Trip Advisor--not so much. I've also looked at Kivotos Club, Mykonos Grace and the Mykonos Grand (which requires a 4 night minimum so that's out). Any ideas?
Thanks in advance........

I never pay attention to the comments of tripadvisor..
I read comments on booking.com instead, they come from people that have stayed at the hotels !!
Cavo Tagoo is one of the best hotels of the island, if not the best, and in walking distance from the city.
Staying in Mykonos town doesn't mean you have to party, it can be totally relaxing as well, the hotels are not in the centre of the town anyway.
Excellent hotels are also : Mykonos Grace, Santa Marina, Mykonos Blu and the lesser known La Residence.

Yes, I know that Trip Advisor has it's limitations but, I do read comments and particularly the negative ones because they're always the most interesting. I just didn't want to book a hotel where people are partying into the wee hours of the morning. It's always better to ask first.

In another thread you wrote: "DH and I are planning a trip to Greece in mid to late May/early June..." That is well outside the party season on Mykonos, which is mainly in August. The times I have been to Mykonos in late May and early June it has been rather quiet on the island.

I think people always have a wrong idea of partying on Mykonos.
Hotels are not near to any clubs, most bars etc are concentrated in the central part of Mykonos town.
The party crowds gather also outside of Mykonos town, in beached such as Super Paradise or other beaches, where special parties are organized.
You can be in Mykonos in July and August and still spend very relaxing days.

Yes, May was originally my preferred time to go but, we opted for June because that ended up better for our dog sitter. Official dates for the trip are June 13-25 and our dates on Mykonos are June 22-24.
This is great info because the impression I got was that Mykonos never sleeps. We pictured ourselves being the only 50 somethings on the island.
I plan to go ahead and book Cavo Tagoo.

It will definitely be busier in late June, but still not really into the party season. Partying will be in the clubs where there are DJs and music, not in the hotels. The clubs don't get going much before midnight, and stay open until dawn, so unless you are night owls you probably won't even notice. ;-)

I have been partying endlessly as a student in Mykonos..
I never went to a club midnight, and went to bed at dawn as Heimdall describes....
This is what the party crown does....
At night you can visit the nice restaurants of Mykonos town and go to a nice bar for a drink afterwards, end of June is a nice time to visit the island.
What i really love is having a coffee at the cafes near Manto Square in the early morning, when all party goers are still sleeping.... The island wakes up pretty late, and all hotels have much longer breakfast hours than any other Greek island..
At Cavo Tagoo, try to get a room as higher as possible, they have a great view

Clausar: Ugh, really? I reserved a room with a plunge pool so I'm assuming that'll be on the bottom floor. I'm sure it'll be beautiful regardless and I appreciate everyone's feedback.
