upgrading to a CIE hotel voucher

Has anyone ever upgraded to a hotel on a voucher plan from CIE? I am wondering what the "supplement" is that they speak of. ...(How much more cash?)I have used the B&B vouchers before and I like them for the ease of not handling/carrying money, but I have never upgraded before. I am contemplating an upgrade to The Burlington in Dublin. Any thoughts on the $$$ of the upgrade OR the hotel itself? Thanks to all of you.

Was at the Burlington this past June (see my June trip report under my name form exact details). The Burlington is big with the Tour Bus group, has an "Irish Cabaret" type dinner show and is MARGINALLY within walking distance of Stephen's Green, Grafton Street and Templebar.
It was OK, but I probably wouldn't return, unless they were running a pretty spectacular deal.
Do a search on Dublin Hotels or SiobhanP, she is a Dublin resident and has put together an impressive list of recommended places.

You could, of course, send CIE an e-mail or call their toll-free phone number and get the actual lowdown from them. They will be able to tell you how much it will cost to upgrade your vouchers.

Thanks Irisheyes...I've done that. Still waiting for a reply from CIE. Thanks

CIE Tours moved offices over the holidays. Send another email or phone them. Moving can be very disruptive and things can get lost.

What B&B's are currently on offer for you in Dublin. I may not be worth the money to upgrade. Let me know and I will check them out. I am just back from my Christmas break so I did not see this post!

Thanks anyway,SiobhanP. We have decided to go with a hotel voucher.
Please rate these hotels for me ( Berkeley court, Westbury,Burlington,Montclare, Mespil, Grand Canal. CIE upgrades to these hotels in Dublin on our vouchers.) I will have to be somewhat near the city center as I have 3 children all in their twenties who want to be where the action is! Thanks for all the Dublin help you give . I have read previous postings from you.

Westbury -

If your vouchers allow you to stay here, go for it. It is very plush and just of Grafton Street, i.e. slap bang central.

Didn't have the funds ourselves to stay here, but met friends who where and was very green and impressed.

I would second the Westbury - great location and it's a good hotel.
