updated Paris Museum Pass Info
 

Anyone recently use the Paris Museum Pass or know people/see people who have? I heard they were becoming less valuable because more people use them now and the lines aren't really long at most places? The prices for everywhere we want to go is about the same for a 4 day museum pass, of course if we don't make it to one of our sites, it will have been cheaper to NOT get the pass. But all else equal, it is worth paying a few euros more for the pass?

Also, I heard there was special pass/ticket you can buy to Versailles in the train stations? Something like roundtrip Metro Paris-Versailles Plus Versailles Fee for Entry for 10-12 Euros/per person. Anyone know anything about this?

My daughter and I bought the two day passes last month. We thought it was well worth it. Not only in terms of avoiding lines, but they were also cost effective for us.

Many people agree that having the pass encourages one to drop into smaller, less well-known attractions that one might not otherwise find economical. In any case, it's a rest room pass at the same venues.

The Versailles "Leisure Package" is sold at SNCF stations (which includes the RER C that serves Versailles Rive Gauche station).

My paris trip was two years ago so not recent enough..:o) all I can relate is that the day that I wanted to go to the Musee d'Orsay it was cold and raining like you would not belive! I expected an arc to float by. And my with carte de Musee, I walked right up and into the museum, even though the line wrapped around the building 1.5 times! I'm not sure if things changed since I was there, but I was quite thankful to have it. Have a wonderful trip!

thank you for the feedback, sounds like a good thing. i think we will end up buying it. Not sure if it's worth it if i buy the leisure package for Versailles (in terms of economics) but if i end up buying a 5-zone CO, I guess i won't need it...

We bought the 2 day pass a few weeks ago and found it well worth the expense. Museums usually have 2 lines, one for people w/o passes and one for people with passes. The line for those with passes was always the shortest line for us. A lot of people with passes seemed to be standing in the long line because they were too afraid or unable to ask if they were in the correct line.

FYI, we thoroughly enjoyed foinf to Versailles with the Fat Tire Bike Tour and highly recommend it for anyone between ages of 8-60, and those older if they are very fit. I say this because our group did have an older person who was a bit overweight and had difficulty keeping up with everyone else. But my kids did great as did us 40 y.o. parents.
