Updated Count On The Favourite City Vote
Hi All,
I posted this yesterday on to the original thread but now it's occured to me that people might not bother opening that one so I thought I would repost seperately (does that make any sense at all?) Anyway, here, in reverse order, is the updated Top 20 as of 29 May 2005; 20). Lucerne 43 19). Brugge 51 18). Madrid 53 17). Copenhagen 56 16). Berlin 69 15). Edinburgh 70 14). Salzburg 71 13). Seville 75 12). Budapest 79 11). Siena 82 10). Barcelona 84 9). Vienna 94 8). Munich 97 7). Prague 136 6). Amsterdam 166 5). Florence 275 4). London 343 3). Venice 372 2). Rome 406 1). No, not really. I'm one of those people who prefers continuity and finds multiple threads by the same person on the same topic mildly annoying (I don't really care much, though). Some people are more annoyed by long threads and don't mind separate threads to continue the same story or topic. It really isn't important, and either way someone will find it annoying. i just opened it because it was there, but I'm not that interested, becaeu I don't like rating cities numerically in order of preference. |
Hi JJ,
Nice of you to take the time to post the results. They are about what I expected from reading the posts on this board. |
cmt,
I knew that I hadn't explained myself properly! On the original thread it had been some time since there had been an updated count (although several posters had asked for one) & the thread had become simply a long list of posts rating cities from 1 to 10. My thinking was that posters who saw the thread coming up again on the left hand side might just assume that it had been updated with yet another list and so not bother opening it. By re-posting with a more specific title, hopefully those who are interested will be more inclined to take a look. Jim |
JJBhoy, you need not explain. I opened your post and enjoyed seeing the results. Thanks for adding up the votes.

Thanks JJBhoy.

JJBhoy, I had no doubt Paris would be #1!! :) Glad you created this thread as I completely overlooked the original.
I'm glad Prague made the Top 10. |
Thanks. I've avoided the other post due to its length. I planned to eventually copy it to my computer and read at will, at work. Thanks for compiling the results. This also gives me a chance to test an emoticon. Hope I remembered correctly. :d

Jim: thanks - i had started out early on to do this so know how time consuming your task, and, perhaps, fun your task was. Paris I had thought would top the poll if not Rome - not rocket science as Ira points out, but from the sheer number of posts concerning each city on this board, plus that fact that they indeed are also to me the two most fascinating and appealing cities in Europe.

Jim,
Thanks for the total - I was one who asked for it. I do have to say, but since I have not visited many of the cities since 1969 (high school), I don't feel qualified to vote, we just went to Brugge & loved it. I think for us, a family, its easier to love a smaller city. We felt overwhelmed in London. Paris is next on my list, though. |
