Is it possible for the mods to move todays posts into a new tread titled "RENFE Strike"? Other travelers may be effected by the upcoming strike.
We arrive at Barajas on September 14 and then continue to Malaga using Renfe. We already have our tickets for the 14:35 train. We will keep an eye on what happens on the 4th and 11th before panicking. The Renfe website is still selling AVE tickets for Sept. 14.
When I first found out about this I did a little Googling and found this in an article; "These four days strike of 24-hours, which will affect driving personnel of “Renfe Operadora”, “Renfe Viajeros” and “Renfe Mercancias”". Does anyone know class of Renfe trains are? I'm hoping that our AVE train isn't effected.

Renfe is required to keep certain trains running, the AVE usually being one. Normally Renfe does not sell tickets to trains that will be affected by a strike, but you can call them if you have any questions, or email Jose Antonio at [email protected].

Actually there is another proposal for strikes at Spanish airports. These do not have anything related to the Spanish train company as suggested in Post dated 27 Aug by Robert.

Points to note:
Madrid-Barajas will take place on 4, 11, 18 and 25 September, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm and from 19:30 to 21:30 hours. Maybe also at Barcelona-El Prat, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, with these strikes the most affected airlines will be EasyJet and Vueling.
