Unusual question about shipping items to the states.

Has anyone shipped large items from Europe (Paris, France) to the United States.
Arriving next week for a trip to Paris and would like to purchase maybe some art or antiques but I'm not sure if I have to declare it with customs, pay an extra fee or what the procedure is. Anyone ever do this.

Thanks in advance.

There are a few threads here on that, do a search on "shipping" to get started.

I have shipped furniture from France to the USA. There are specialty companies which will take care of all of the formalities for you. Any furniture dealer will be able to guide you.

Generally, any item over 100 years old enters the USA with no import duty.

Hi e,

You have the dealer ship it.

They will fill out all of the forms, etc.

You need a shipping company. If you're buying art and antiques, the seller should have a contact. With the exchange rate what it is right now, I can't see that this is a particularly good idea.
