Unseasonably warm in Paris right now?

While checking temp. in Paris, since we are to be there around May 20th, it seemed like Paris was really warm right now - for this upcoming week, it's saying it will be 72 degrees!

Have the temp's been stable? I noticed someone asking about the weather in England, but many posters said it went from cool to warm in a manner of hours in one day.

Is it looking like a really warm summer? Last time I went to Paris, it was quite cold for me, around high 50's-lower 60's, so we were prepared for that this time, but it's starting to look like we need to bring more "summer" clothes!

I can't speak for Paris, but here in Holland it is very warm, unseasonably so - we have had several days of 25+C here. It is due to cool off a bit this next week but who knows what it will be like in mid May?

We will be in Paris beginning May 11 and right now it looks like I am going to pack some sweaters as well as summer clothes.

Have a good time in Paris.

Thanks guys,

I'm just getting concerned because our Paris apartment doesn't have A/C since we didn't think we would need it - ha!

It has been unseasonably warm here, and absolutely beautiful, picture perfect. Unseasonable, but not unbearable, just bringing out summer clothes. We've had very little rain, which is unusual. If I were traveling here to weather like this, I would be delighted. I haven't felt the need for AC (fortunately, since I don't have it), and I am on the top floor. The temperatures drop at night, so no problem sleeping.

Having said all that, this being Paris, this could change. I would bring light-weight clothing and a few things to layer, just in case.

Toupary,

I'm really happy it's not unbearably hot, and it would be nice if we still get lovely sunny days when we get there since I know how rainy Paris can be even in late May

It is unseasonably warm in Paris, as it is here in Switzerland. I am going to Paris on May 17th but won't even begin to think about clothing because the temperatures could change drastically by then. It;s too far away to tell.

Unfortunately, along with the warm weather, there has been little or no rain anywhere in France. If this keeps up, those of you visiting Paris this summer might mistake it for Tumbleweed Junction.

Toupary Apr 29th, 2007 07:20 AM

Fear not, the drought has ended. The skies have opened up. I'm hoping it will let up for a while, as I really need to get out.

See what we mean about the weather changing?

kerouac Apr 29th, 2007 08:21 AM

The shower was very brief in the 18th arrondissement, but at least the temperature has come down to 23°C according to my outdoor thermometer.

We are in Paris now...and it's been very hot ....82 for a few days. We are at the Citadines St. Germain so we have ac of sorts...

What has been uncomfortable are the restaurants...!Hopefully it will be cooler soon.

It was very brief here in the 6th, too, kerouac, but there was a nice breeze when I went out. Tonight should be cooler.

kerouac Apr 29th, 2007 09:36 AM

Second storm just came through. Much better rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

klondike Apr 29th, 2007 09:53 AM

reports from friends near Bordeaux say it has been as 32 before this welcome change!

Let's hope that doesn't continue and turn into la canicule. I remember the last one when everything was burned up and the aged had a beastly time of it.

Spring and fall you have to pretty much take layers so you can peel it on or off as the changing weather dictates.

Hi,

How is the weather in Deauville and Honfleur? Just curious.

Thanks

kerouac Apr 29th, 2007 10:34 AM

Deauville and Honfleur and not very far from Cherbourg -- the coldest and rainiest city in France during the summer months.

Kerouac,

Thank you, my husband and I will be staying in Deauville in the middle of May, so I better bring more sweaters.

Meanwhile, please keep the crepes warm.

Mahalo and Aloha,
M

Rats, wouldn't you just know that when we were there last month it was unseasonably COLD? It even snowed on our last day. We went through several of those travel umbrellas, and the wind was fierce, just went right through you.
So no complaining about the sunny warm weather - I don't want to hear it!!!

When my daughter and I visited Amsterdam and Paris the first two weeks of May it was warm. I was sooo glad I put in two linen shirts just because I had enough room. I used them ALOT!
