Unsafe Hotels?

Who has had experience in an 'unsafe hotel'? What happened?

Dukey Jan 13th, 2008 04:59 AM

You mean the one we were in when there was a fire?

I've had numerous experiences over the years with hotels that were uncomfortable, run down, dirty, on the wrong side of the tracks, etc. While they may have felt unsafe, I don't think they really were.

I've either stayed there, found someplace else before I checked in, or moved someplace else asap. A lot depended on the circumstances.

I think "unsafe" it is sometimes just a feeling...what do you mean ?

Time ago when i was much younger, at one of my earlier trips to Barcelona, I took a cheap hotel (could well have been a hostal") single room in summer. No fan nor air-condition, a tiny room so in order to creat air move at least a little, I opened a small room window AND leave the door open blocking it with a gabbage bin during the night. Now I think it was dangerous. I don't rememebr if I slept well but nothing seemed to have happened, nobody peeked in or else.

Another Barcelona hostal experience again a longtime ago, a place I found on arrival at night in central area. Next morning I used my electric shaver, that created a short circuit. Lights went out I herad some commotion and shout outside my room. I remained silent. Sorry it was me. Now I confess.

Okay, above are I caused the danger, not the hotel.

kappa,

I think I stayed in the same place in Barcelona, also many years ago.

The things we did on a poor student's budget. I didn't feel unsafe, just very grossed out. Slept in my sleeping bag rather than be anywhere near sheets and mattress. Kept socks on my feet rather than touch the floor. I could go on, but this is a family oriented forum.
