I've been catching up on this thread with interest. We are travelling for 2.5 weeks in Scandinavia this June, and were wondering if I could just get a pay as you go SIM card for my BlackBerry (I already have a travel kit for plugging in the recharger, and we often use the phone for word games with the kids, directions, looking up info, etc.,) However, we know almost nothing about cell phones - this BlackBerry is our first mobile in a v. long time!

So, I'm interested to know
(a) if I can get a SIM card for my BlackBerry Bold
(b) if we'd be able to use data services as well (or if it's so expensive that we would be best to stick with phone only)
(c) what your recommendations are for a prepaid card -- we'll be in Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden (and Finland for a layover).

I figure the best thing is to turn off the "push" so that my work mail doesn't go to my BlackBerry. If it's possible just to

I'm sorry to report that the Solomo card we ordered online and paid for with a credit card was not received. The hotel said it didn't come and they said they sent it and it came back. Don't know who is at fault. Solomo said they would credit me. We will see when we get home. I went to a local wireless store and bought a SIM Voice (e-plus) for 14.99 Euros. It has 10 Euros of minutes on it. 5 ct/min out of Germany/ 9 ct/min in Germany. So far so good. I don't think I will need to refill it cause I just am using it for emergencies.

Yes you can take your current cell phone with you out of the country. I did it a few months ago when i went to Italy for a little over a month. I used Rangeroamer, and they worked pretty well.
