In Paris with my daughter, trying to stay awake to reset out (body) clocks, we took a 90 minute "overview of Paris" bus tour. Suddenly, the bus was passing Rodin's "The Thinker". Hidden behind the wall, from the bus, it appeared to be levitating in the trees! I gasped and grabbed my daughter, and we both ended up leaning over the seats looking backward as the bus pulled away. The other tourists were staring at us, wondering, I'm certain, what in earth they had missed.

In 1973 we (Practice Wife, myself, and four small children) were cruising the Med in our boat. Tied up in Gruz, the port for Dubrovnik. I came back from an errand to find my wife in tears, hugging one of our four year old twin daughters.
Seems the young lady had tumbled off the dock into the water. A Croatian guy instantly plunged in, plucked her out, and presented the screaming and wet kid to her also screaming mother. Our Hero then walked off, dripping, without even waiting for a "Thank You!" There is still some guy in Dubrovnik who's hand I would like to shake! |
My first trip to England, I spent a week in London. I arrived back at the coach terminal after a day tour in time to see a huge crowd all going the same way. I decided to find out what was going on and became part of the crowd.
To my surprise, we arrived at Buckingham Palace. I’m short, so it was easy to get very close to the gate. I had unknowingly stumbled on to a memorable occasion; it was the Queen Mum’s birthday. I had a front row seat for the show – including the Royal Family on the balcony with the cute little waves. |
These are all so funny, touching, and charming. During work today, I kept sneaking a peak to keep up with the stories. I am glad everyone is adding to the post - very enjoyable.
