Underground--Waterloo to Tower of London

Trying to figure out the underground. Staying near the London Eye and wanting to go to the Tower of London.

I think I could walk to the Waterloo station, take the Underground Blackline to Embankment. District Line to Tower Hill. Does it work that way?

Depends on where you are actually staying.

If south of Waterloo, then yes -- you can go from Waterloo to Embankment and circle/district to Tower Hill.

But if you are at the Marriott or Premier Inn or someplace like that, I'd walk across the river to Westminster and Circle/District from there.

You could also take the Thames Clipper boat from next to the London Eye direct to the Tower. More fun than stuck in a stuffy tube.

I agree with janisj - once you get your bearings, you'll realize that a lot of the Tube stations are much closer together than you might think. (For example, it'd be silly to catch the Tube at Leicester Square to get to Charing Cross or Covent Garden.) If you're staying right at the Eye, it'll take less time to walk over the bridge and catch the Circle/District from Westminster than it would to find your way to and through Waterloo, go one stop and change trains.

Oh meant to mention - there's no such thing as the "Blackline", you mean the Northern Line. Check out the journey planner on www.tfl.gov.uk for planning trips on public transport in London.

We are staying at the Premier Inn, London County Hall.

Looks like Westminster would be easiest. Thanks
