Underground Rome?

I think I read somewhere that there is a special tour that can be booked that takes you into the underground of Rome where there are remnants of the ancient city.

Does anyone have any information about this?

Here's a link to a few pages in Google about tours of underground Rome:

I've looked at a few; most of them just seem to take you to places you can go on your own: Mamertine Prison, St. Clement's, various catacombs, etc.

I found the International Catacomb Society web site very helpful regarding this subject:

I think you may be talking about the Scavi Tour at St. Peters. DO a search on this forum for "scavi" and you will find all the info.

Scala Reale has an "Underground Rome" itinerary that I am taking in February. You can find it on their website, www.contextrome.com.
