Undecided between 3 Hotels in Rome, please help!
 

Hi , my husband and I are traveling to Florence for 2 nights and moving on to Rome for 6 nights. We are looking for a budget hotels no more than $130.00 US (EUR 110) and centrally located, close to all major sites. We have found the following 3 but are really not sure which one to choose:
1) Hotel Kennedy
2) Hotel Anglo Americano
3) Hotel Miami

We are really open to any suggestions if these do not seem to good but do not want to spend too much on hotel since we will hardly spend any time in it, yet we want it to be clean, comfortable and close to city centre. We have not even started looking for anything in Florence, suggestions here would also be a PLUS!

I've stayed directly around the train station in 6 trips. In hotels from 2*-4*, I've stayed at the Kennedy twice ('02 & '03 for ~4 weeks) and will probably stay there again next March.
It's a nice 3* hotel, recently renovated, *pleasant staff*, nice buffet b'fast and nice rooms.
Although "centrally located" usually means around the Piazza Navona area. It's a short metro or bus ride to the sights.

I don't know anything about the hotels you mention but around the train station is not centrally located. When most people think " central location" they think near the Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori ( my fave) or the Spanish steps.

Hi, thanks for the replies. Now I got a response from the Hotel Pomezia with a decent price of 125 EUR, anyone heard of this hotel?

We stayed at the Hotel Miami in April/May of 1999. We loved it! We had our 2 small children with us and even then were able to walk everywhere in the city, never needing to use transportation other than our legs. We had a quad room, which was quite large...and very nice, including the bathroom. The location was good...safe, even late at night, and we never had a problem with noise. The staff were very warm and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!

In Florence we stayed at the Casci Hotel. Our room there was a bit more basic, but we loved the hotel just as much. Florence is a very compact city and the Casci was truly just a block or two from the center. Again, the staff there were incredible.

Avoid Anglo Americano like the plague. Stayed there as my regular favorite place was booked. Noisy, dirty rooms with rude staff. After 1 night, I went around the corner to the Hotel Julia where I normally stay and they had a cancellation. Hotel Julia is in a great location, the rooms are lovely, with remodelled bathrooms. The staff is fantastic, and although the location is close to everything, it is on a quiet street. I won't stay anywhere else. Both my friends and mom loved it. Good luck

I stayed at the Hotel Pomezia last June. We paid 138E for a quad. It's clean and in a great location. Good breakfast included. It is not upscale though and the decor is somewhat old. For the price there are probably not many better hotels. We would stay again.

I am traveling to Rome 2nd week of Nov and did a lot of research here and at venere.com. This hotel is a 3*, and quoted me 110 Eur/night for a double.

Reviews on both venere.com and tripadvisor.com were very positive.
