If you took from the inhabitants of the British Isles the privilege of making unwarranted, scurrilous attacks on each other's ethnicities, they wouldn't have anything to talk about.
Irish v. Welsh, Welsh v. English, Scots v. English, Scots Irish v. Irish Irish, Irish English v. English English, English v. everyone and everyone v. English, not to mention kestrel-strangling Scousers v. poncey shiny-suited London eel-swallowers, Mancunian v. Liverpudlian (they're only 30 miles apart, for crying out loud), it's the real national sport. The Welsh come in for a disproportional amount of abuse. I'm not sure why. Something to do with coal mining, I think. Great voices though. |

Well, we could make fun of Americans. Except that some of them get upset when we do. We had better stick to teasing the psychologically-strong. Oh, and the Welsh. |
Take seriously Cowboy's suggestion of the Azores. Charming, rural (rock walls and lots of cows), no tourists, not too hot, beaches and fantastic food, especially seafood.

Great voices because of the mining. Helps the psyche

Why not give the Outer Hebrides a go. No, really. Tiree (OK, it's in the Inner Hebrides) gets more sunshine than anywhere else in Britain (mind you, you could stand under a waterfall and stay drier than anywhere else in Britain this summer). It has fantastic beaches, and, as they say, even the sheep on the hills is lonely- they didn't say that about Tiree, of course, because it has no hills.
I'd try Coll, Tiree or North Uist/Berneray http://www.buyimage.co.uk/photonet/berneray/1.html http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.u...are/baleshare/ http://www.colldigital.co.uk/photo-l...=16&page=1 http://www.tireeimages.com/detail/ba...-tiree-03.html |
