Unable to find discounts Eurostar v. RailEurope, doing something wrong?

Hello, I read previous comments telling travelers to delete cookies when pricing Eurostar tickets and try multiple websites. I am getting the same price on both websites, am I doing something wrong? When I book round trip I also get significantly higher prices for RT vs. one way.

I tried lastminute.com also and it unfortunately doesn't allow one way ticket booking.

Just wondered if it was common to find no price fluctuation when checking around. I am trying a one way route between London and Paris at the end of August leisure class. Thanks for any input.

Hi T,

The cheapest prices have been the RT, one-day fares - about $115.

Erase the eurostar.com cookie from your computer and choose UK as your residence for prices in GBP.

Sometimes you do get the same price.

When you say you are getting the same prices, do you mean you are getting the same currency each time or that when you do the money conversion you get the same price?

How are you deleting the cookies, are you closing your browser and then reopening it, are you getting the screen to select a nationality, which dates are you looking at?

Thanks, I'll try again right now.

Alan, this is for August 29th 4pm departure. I'll try again under British pounds and see what I get. I believe I am deleting all cookies including temporary files, cookies, and history.

Oops, the travel date is August 28th and the exact time is 4:12pm. Now when I try it for Britain I'm not seeing leisure select class. Let me keep working on it...

Okay. I got the same rate for leisure class (also known as comfort class with Raileurope) at $334 USD. When I price the Eurostar using the UK, France, or Belgium website with cookes deleted I cannot get leisure class to come up at all, it just has prices for Business Premier and Standard.

Have you tried booking a return trip (I assume you're trying to book a one way)...while it would be very hard ot make a same day return look legit (well I guess if you arrive in London at 6 ish for a quick "business meeting", you could want to take a very late train back...failing that you can go for a stay over Saturday night return and again eat the return.

I've done this several times recently and gotten £20 each way for £40 total and thrown the return away so $80 for a one way trip not all that bad.

On the 28th August @ 16:12 I get a one way fare of $124 - which is the price for most trips that day

Can you tell us exactly what you are doing as prices under different nationalities DON'T convert to the same amount

You are closing & repoening your brower after you've deleted the Eurostar cookies - not temp files - from your computer

Hi T,

Using www.eurostar.com and clicking UK for home port, I get

London/Paris at 16:12 for 54.5 GBP.
Paris/London at 21:00 for 29.5 GBP
Total = 84 GBP or $170.

The one-way ticket is 155 GBP.

Hi TW - Have you considered flying?

Easyjet has 4 flights Luton-CDG on 28 Aug at £34 to £44.

Thanks so much for the advice! Sorry it took me a bit to respond as I had a doctor's appt. this morning.

Anyhoo, I tried looking at the flights and the time schedule doesn't work well for us. We are having a guide and driver that is taking us to Duxford Imperial War Museum (we'll be staying in Cambridge the night before) and it doesn't open until 10am. We were thinking we may be rushing it too much to try to make a 3pm flight with added security measures.

Regarding the cookie deletion procedure, while I am on the Eurostar page I open up cookeis and delete temporary internet files, cookies, history, form data and passwords. The I close the browser and try again. Then I also tried leaving it on the Eurostar page and priced it again through the US page and get the same price of $167 pp.

Let me keep trying...

Okay. Of course, I can't get the prices to change. I may try another computer.

Using the US website portion for leisure select departing Aug 28th at 4:12 pm I get a price of $167 each or $334 total. When I tried to book round trip with a "standard" return same night the price is approx. $19 more.

When I delete cookies, close the web page and try again on the British website I cannot pull up a "leisure class" rate, only standard and premier.

When I go to raileurope.com the price is the same, $334 total. Aargh.

After you delete your cookies reboot your computer.

If you have successfully removed all cookies, you will have to enter your name and password to be able to post here.

Hi Ira, yes I have to re-sign in. I wonder if the pricing has anything to do with my web browser.

Since this is the same price that I get for a same-day RT ticket at the UK site, I would just go ahead and book.

You'd make the 19.30 flight, wouldn't you?

Fare: £37

Very thoughtful comment Ira, may all your travels be pleasurable as well

Steve_James, we've been waffling on flying as well. It is also cheaper. Our driver is from a tour company in Wales and I'm also trying to be thoughtful of his schedule as well as he'll have to drive back home for another tour after us the following day. He was going to drive us to London but with all the traffic I thought we'd just take the train to London then the Eurostar. Just wanted to try to make things easier on him too. It will be a very long day but I enjoy looking at the sights out the window and I know my spouse will doze off. He's quite fortunate, one of the folks that can sleep anywhere
