Umbria-Which location and hotel?

Two days in Umbria in September. Orvieto, Perugia or Gubbio? Which hotel? Does anyone know Castello dell Oscano outside of Perugia?
Thanks.

We toured Tuscany/Umbria last fall, and Orvieto was one of the high spots. We stayed at Hotel Vergilio on the square across from the dazzeling Duomo-lots of shops and resturants nearby.

My wife and I stayed at La Badia in Orvieto. Converted 700 year old monastary.

Best hotel we had stayed at during our trip. On a small hill side, with their own vineyard and olive trees. Beautiful views of Orvieto.

Highly recommended

No reason you can't see all three towns in two days, the drive is so pretty. For hotel, I like La Rosetta near the center of Perugia. But what about Assisi?

John, do you have a web address for La Badia? Telephone/fax numbers? Price range?

The food at La Rosetta in Perugia has to be some of the best hotel food I have ever had. The courtyard on a sunny September afternoon will be great.I have stayed there many times in the past...the staff is very pleasant. The rooms range from beautiful to average to downright funky. I would prefer this to a location outside the city.

I also have stayed at La Badia in Orvieto and it was a very lovely experience. You cannot walk into the city as it is on the next hill over, but the view is very beautiful and they have a swimming pool.

Why not spend one day in Perugia and the next day in Orvieto?
