<<< Please check out the fares for Monday, Aug. 9, for 5 adults and 1 child for the 10:22 a.m. train from Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh. >>>
Booking for cheaper tickerts is only up to the 8th August. You'll have to wait until after the weekend for the 9th as they advance the timetables a week at a time not daily.
<<< But why, when I enter "5 adults, 1 child" the fare for my train (10:22) and 2 later ones (way past rush hour or peak times), the total fare goes up to 146 and change >>>
At a guess on other trains you are getting a special group fare which isn't available on that particular service - £146.25 is the standard walk up fare for the route

Thanks, alanRow. Maybe I can finally put this boring thread to rest. I'll call the First Great Western rail company tomorrow morning and see what their story is, and I will wait until next week to purchase ALL my tickets (MIM-Oxford, round trip; MIM-Bath), and be done with it. I think I will also purchase the Family/Group rail card for 25 GBP, if I can do it via the internet.
When I plan my trips, there is always one thing that drives me crazy, and with this trip, it's understanding the fare structure of the rails. At least, we're not going long distances.
Again, many thanks to everyone who was patient with me as I tried to figure out the ticket pricing.
