UK: Corrie Faux Pas: White Tennies in Paris!
 

I've lost a lot of faith in the writers of Coronation Street after last night's (8-mo delay) episode on my local CBC station:

Whilst on a family trip to Paris Craig's girlfriend and he decide to escape and flea to Berlin to lead a new independent life.

But while in the Gare du Nord waiting to board the train each are clearly shown wearing white as white could be tennis shoes... and as every Fodorite knows this is a tremendous faux pas as we all know that it is so gauche to dare wear white tennies anywhere in Paris.

How could the writers get it so wrong - or - were they trying to show this trendy-to-the-hilt Midlands' couple who back in Manchester would have thought they were wearing cool sneakers, to be a bunch of clueless rubes in the big city?

They would be Mancunians. Craig is long gone and you don't know what happened to Charlie Stubbs!!

i do because i was in London for a week in February and Tracey's trial was just starting. But don't know bloody details but he of course had it coming to him.

Charlie got his come-uppance - and so did Tracey in the end...

Well we always thought that those two deserved each other!

I'd rather worry about their arrival in Berlin. Will they be denied their first beer by the German fashion police?

Well the writers' faux pas's (how to do plural of faux pas?)

also included unreal train connections.

First the star-struck young couple were late for their train and were seen chasing down what clearly was a Eurostar train - which would be impossible as you can't run to catch a departing Eurostar train from the Gare du Nord concourse as they did - but have to go thru special entry area.

It could have been though one of the Eurostar train sets being used on Gare du Nord-Lille run that supplements TGVs on that line - but this would be no way to head for Berlin

And then the next train, where a tearful Craig left a balking but even more tearful xxxx on the platform after she changed her mind - this was clearly a Thalys train - OK for a Berlin trajectory but Craig had said before that they had to change in Mannheim - which would have entailed a TGV-Est train from Gare de l'Est.

And after they missed the first train Craig said they were out 35 euros - way to cheap it seems for paris-berlin.

So Craig left for Berlin whilst xxxx found her loving parents who were searching for her in Gare du Nord.

Oh - so Tracy got hers....I'll have to find what that is on the corrie site.

As for Craig and the girlfriend - I found myself thinking who cares about them....hopefully, they'll get on to something more interesting now.
