UK car hire
 

Hi, can anyone suggest a reasonably priced and reliable car hire company we can use in the UK.

We are currently in London, having relocated from Australia. We plan to try and use public transport wherever possible for our weekends away but there will be places that are difficult to get to, for example the train/bus to get to Hay-on-Wye sounds time-consuming so will probably get a car.

Any suggestions for car hire? I have looked at a few websites and prices vary a lot.

Have you tried 1car1.com and easycar.com? Both are pretty cheap for short term rentals.

We arranged ahead of time to be picked up after our flight at Heathrow and driven to our central London hotel. The driver was waiting for us when we arrived. He also mentioned that they are available for daily sightseeing and hourly hire.

Thanks Obxgirl and Celticmoon, I'll check prices on these websites. A hire car for independent sightseeing is what we are after but I will check them all out.

Get GOOD directions to Hay-on-Wye. We went on our trip (from Wales) and it was a long, windy trip in and out. Great place if you love books, though!!!
