>"The Germans will always vote for a politician that can make the trains run on time"
The first correct statement from you on this forum. Congrats>>>

QED.

I am now invoking my new "don't talk to idiots rule". Bye.

'It's my right as a citizen to be able to use the train system every day and from any sta(t)ion.'

I shall treasure that for a long time.

Vive la difference.

The Brits worry about the Americans. They kidnap people and imprison them indefinitely without trail. They torture prisoners, and kill them.

The Americans worry because the Brits do not have many trains on Boxing Day.

<<What you have to get into your head is that Britain to all intents and purposes stops functioning from 24/12 - 5/1. We don't really want to go anywhere.>>

Heathrow is busy on Christmas Day since many leave the country esp for warmer destinations eg Caribbean. Boxing Day is even busier. Not everyone owns a car and in this case getting to work on Xmas Day at LHR for a 5am shift is a problem. Xmas and Boxing Day are normal working days for some.

Ha ha, poor British tossers in their fantasy world. They have had so many laws in the past, like closing the pubs early. Please keep it up. We love a good laugh.

Yes, poor devils they even have to import their nobility from Germany and have to write German words on their money.
I'm so happy, we have a president over here.
But I won't go that path, it might really hurt their feelings.
So yeah, a few good laughs please.

You "Johnny Foreigners" miss the point completely, it's not the lack of trains or buses on ONE or TWO days out of 365 that is the problem with public transport(the population know about it and work around it). The MAIN problem with public transport is, as a Tory MP once put it......You have to "travel with THE PUBLIC" (and tourists)!!!

Regards.

I know, the public smells (=stinks) even on a monday morning, (and I'm sure, the British public is far worse than the German in that respect) but were else would you meet them? I mean, we have 1st class on many trains, that should do it.

logos, logos, logos. Dear me, how this thread has lapsed. From your incomprehension as to why hundreds of people should miss their holidays just so that I can travel from Chipping Norton to Thames Ditton exactly when I want to you move on to mock our Royal Family.

There is a very good reason why you have a democratic president. My parents gave up their youth so you could have one. My father has suffered in silence ever since.
He could do with a "few good laughs" sometimes.

Dec 26 is a holiday in Britain. Get over it.

And in Germany and even Jan 6 is a holiday.
How you must hate your evil cousins, you're so much like them, yet you'll never reach them.

World's dullest country.
World's worst food.
World's worst popular culture.
World's worst history.

So true, but the importance of those things pales next to a good sound train schedule.

So what's your point, the UK does NOT have a sound train schedule.

logos, my evil cousin. Comments about our Royal family from a German will never hurt. How can they?

The German stereotype in the UK is completely devoid of any sense of humour or irony. I have met and worked with many Germans and know this is incorrect. But tonight I move on - you ARE the German stereotype.

I'm intrigued. Where would one find deutsche Sprache on any UK specie?

(I know that the P.O.W.'s motto is "Ich dien" - but for the rest, I plead well-deserved ignorance.)

It's so great you like your German royalty including the old Willy II of Prussia that brought so much misery. We never liked them that much. Take them if you want.

Good my fellow germans told you they have humor and irony. I'd bet you wouldn't have found that out by yourself. German humour is far too compilcated for a Brit to understand. They need simple concepts of life and some german royalty to tell them what is funny and what is not.
