Uggs in Switzerland
 

I was thinking of taking my UGG Classic Boots to wear in Switzerland we leave next week. I was planning on wearing them to dinner and just around the condo. Taking hiking boots and walking shoes for daytime. I always take my UGGs to ski resort areas here in the US. Will they be ok to wear in the Interlaken/Wengen/Lauterbrunnen area? I wasn't sure how dressed up people got for dinner. Thanks.

UGGS are super-fashionable in Europe.

this is so funny -in Australia where UGGS were "invented" lower socio-economic persons wore them so they were always deemmed as very low class footwear-thye were very cheap in more ways than one

This week's Paris fashion show was a lot about grunge. Fashion is bottom up these days, not top down.

It isn't winter/cold yet. Temps in Interlaken are likely to be in the mid to high 60's and maybe the high 40's to mid 50's at night. Maybe rain, not snow. So no, uggs wouldn't be my choice.

Uggs have become a bit declasse in L.A., but I have always found them to be a bit ridiculous here (in L.A.) especially in 90 degree weather where you see people walking around in short shorts and uggs. Ugh!

But, yeah, they would seem much more appropriate in cool weather in Switzerland. Definiately did NOT see any women (or men for that matter) wearting them this summer in Switzerland -- neither in Vevey (80 degrees) or Zermatt (65 degrees).

UGGs are for the British and Americans, other Europeans don't seem to wear them, I don't agree they are super-fashionable in Europe - UK perhaps but not elsewhere. They are totally impractical for rain or snow.

A couple of years ago the male students of Tufts University asked the administration to ban Uggs. The request was tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment behind it was not.

Uggs in 60 degree weather, even in a ski resort? Don't think so. Cold weather in a ski resort? Of course.

I am sorry - there are some things Australia has given to the rest of the world that we are sometimes embarrassed by - Uggs and Rupert are a couple that immediately come to mind - with apologies to those who watch Foc - I really wish you had something better to do with your lives.

IMHO I don;t get Uggs. They look like snow boots (look silly otherwise) but they realy don't work in snow since they are not waterproof. And the bottoms alwasy get all tattered and filthy.

Just have never seen the point. (My younger D got a pair several years ago when they were the thing in her school - wore them in the winter for a few weeks - and I haven't seen them since.)

Uggs would be absolutely ridiculous in the BO in October.

You really need hiking boots or you will look like the stupid people from New Jersey who show up at the Schynige Platte in flip-flops.

If I were skiing in Wengen in January, and was staying at the Hotel Victoria in Interlaken and I wanted something to wander around the lobby in then maybe I would wear Uggs.
