Ufizzi + Accademia - too much for one day?
 

My family's upcoming trip will include four days in Florence. We are two adults and one 10-year old son. We will be arriving by train from Venice late morning (I think 11:33). After checking into the hotel and getting something to eat, we are planning to go to the Ufizzi (by 1:30 or 2:00, perhaps, WITH a reservation). If we allow a couple(?) of hours for the Ufizzi, is it then reasonable to think we could then see the Accademia (primarily David) late in the afternoon, by 4:30 or 5:00 or even later (also with a reservation)? We are not "artsy", but want to allow enough time to enjoy the experience, so I am looking for advice before making reservations.

The Accademia is open until 6.50, so you could do it.

No. I did the Uffizi, Accademia, and went to Fiesole all in the space of one day. Uffizi I spent two hours in (it's really not that big), and the Accademia about an hour (45 mins just staring at David). They are only about 15 minutes apart from eachother on foot.

You can do it.
The Accademia is a small museum, and the highlights including David are on the first floor.

As the others have said, it's possible, but with four days in Florence, why would you want to? Even when my feet can stand it, my head can only absorb so many masterpieces in one day. I'd do the small Accademia the first afternoon, and then explore the streets of Florence during the evening hours, and I'd go to the Uffizi first thing another morning. It's good that you know how important it is to have that reservation. The lines are horrible otherwise. Have a wonderful visit.

Thanks for your advice. It is good to know we CAN do both museums, although (Thanks, Karen!) I'm not yet convinced that we really want to. There's just so much to do and see...

Look guys, Been there as a kid and as an adult/old! Do your homework as to what is on display and of interest (goes for all museums) then GET RESERVATIONS FOR BOTH.Beware of holidays. Waiting in line is a drag and can ruin the whole thing.
Go to the museum, get a guide and mark what you want to see. Both are easy if you do what I say.This is the best education and gift you can give your kids. Congratulations! If you want to see it all..get an apartment and stay 10 years!!! Enjoy
